Oh baby!

Looks like Matthew will be a big brother in June! I found out I was pregnant at the end of September. After 3 u/s the baby is growing well and a little ahead of schedule. After the last u/s the baby was measuring with a due date of June 3rd instead of June 7th. Matthew couldn’t care less about it so far. I wanted to take a picture of him holding the u/s pic for my facebook announcement but he kept throwing the picture around. Maybe he is be better when the baby is here. So far this pregnancy has been a little worse than Matthews. I have felt sicker longer. With Matthew I was feeling better at 7 weeks. This time I started feeling real sick at 7 weeks and just now and starting to feel batter at 13 weeks. If still could be worse though. I don’t know how some women go through 9 months throwing up all the time. I would be a one and done! We should find out the gender at the end of December I hope. At the 10 week u/s the doctor said he was pretty sure it was a boy!! I’m kinda mad he told me though. I want to know 100% not a guess. Oh well as long as it is healthy that is all I could ask for.

Proud Big Brother!....Kind of haha

Happy Halloween!

This Halloween was a little more fun than last. For starters Matthew can walk. On Sunday we went to the Fall Festival at church. There was a lot of things to do but it was really crowded and all Matthew wanted to do was run around. He would scream as soon as I picked him up. He really enjoyed the wheels though. As in peoples strollers Every time he passed one he got on the ground to check them out. He also love the motorcycles. Papa and Grandpa will be so proud. We did not go trick or treating this year. It was cold and rainy and mama did not feel good. Rudy gave out candy and to my surprise we gave it all out. The cold rain doesn't stop some kids. I did dress Matthew up to get some pictures. He was fussy though. I'm not sure what is wrong with him. Since Monday he has been screaming when I drop him off at daycare. He has never done that before. I hope he stops soon. Makes me feel bad for him and his teachers.

Here are some Halloween pics!

Car seat safty

If you know me IRL then you know that I still have Matthew rear facing. I'm sure some people think I am crazy. I still try to get him out of the car fast so people don't judge me but then I think if someone wants to judge me for doing something proven to keep my baby safe then they are the crazy ones =) From facebook I have realized a lot of people don't know much about car seat safety. Almost all the car seat pictures I see I can spot that its not used properly. The main thing is the clip that snaps in the middle. It should ALWAYS be up on their chest. Granted most of the pictures are not in the car itself so I am hopping that these babies are strapped in right when traveling. Why am I so worried about this? the number once cause of death to children ages 1-12 is automobile accidents. I remember hearing a news story awhile back where the mother didn't have the baby strapped in right and got in a wreck. The baby flew out of her car seat and died on impact. Something that could have very easily been prevented and now her mother will have to live with it forever. There are a lot of scary things in the world and you can't protect your child from everything but seemed like a no brainer. So I researched car seats. And found out something I never knew because I didn't know anyone who did this. It is 70% safer to keep you child rear facing until the age of 2. 70%!! That is a BIG number. So that is what I did. I researched seats because Matthew is a tall child and found a perfect one. He can actually rear face in it until he is 45 pounds. Some people rear face their child until they are older. I am just going to 2 because that is when most of the bones have fussed together. Here are some links to car seat safety http://www.nhtsa.gov/ChildSafety/step1 And here is the link to extended rear facing. Please watched the video at the bottom to see what can happen to a child in a forward facing car seat http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/stayrearfacing.aspx.

And here is Mattman happily riding rear faced in his car seat =)

Update!

I can't believe it has been so long since I was on here. I have had a few ideas on things I wanted to blog about but never really had the time. That and it has been very boring around here. Matthew is doing great in daycare. He LOVES GG, his afternoon teacher. I think she really loves him too. That or she is really good at talking your child up every time you pick them up. He is learning soo much. He can count to 10 and say a lot of new words. He is turning into a big boy every day! I think he is going to be a genius baby but I could be a little bias.

My sister got married 2 weeks ago on September 10th on Oak Island. It was very pretty and we had a fun time in the beach house with the family. I wish I took more pictures. The only bad thing was that Matthew could open the front door and TWICE he walked out side by himself!! Talk about a heart attack! The front of the house was on a busy road. I am sooo thankful nothing else happened from that. Other that that is was fun. Me and my cousin went swimming in the ocean with the full moon! It was really fun but then kinda scary because I kept thinking of sharks.

Other than that life has been the same. Work, food, baths, bed and repeat. I am ready for things to slow down now that the weeding is over. I need to work on my new hobbies learning how to take good pictures and learning how to sew. We shall see how it goes...

Zoo and tubes

We went to the zoo the Saturday before Mothers day with my sister and her family. It was really fun but a lot of walking. I checked it out an the NC Zoo has 5 miles of walking trails! Matthews favorite thing was the water sprinklers. Good thing he was free. The kids loved seeing the seal swimming. We didn't make it to the giraffes and zebras. It was nap time and melt down city. They have a package you can get for a family of 4 that will let you get into the NC zoo and aquariums for free all year long. It will be awhile before we need that though.

Ever since Matthew started daycare in February he has been hit with frequent ear infections. As soon as he gets off the antibiotic it comes right back. Or maybe it never goes away but he has had 5 double ear infections in the past 3 months! After number 3 the doctor said we should try and wait because it usually gets better in the summer and sometimes the tubes fall out after only a couple of months. She didn't want us to get them now and then they fall out and we need to get them again in the fall when ear infections get worse. But then he got 2 more. The doctor then said the sooner the better. So we have schedule the surgery (guess they call it surgery because they have to put him to sleep) for May 25th. The only sucky thing is that my insurance renews in July so I will have to pay my deductible on this and then in July it will renew so if I have anything else happen after that I will have to pay again. Oh well I guess that is life. Just gotta pray that the tubes don't fall out soon and that they help with the ear infections. Poor baby needs a break.

4.25.11

Gezzz that song “Don’t blink” is true. I was going to blog about Matthews 15 month check up and now he is 16 months old. I am such a procrastinator. But in my defense it has been one thing after another around our house. Matthew seems to always be sick or have and ear infection or something going on. He had a fever this morning. Guess that’s the life of a family with a child in day care. I did look back at my old posts yesterday and I noticed I tend to write about the same thing. I blame it on the fact that my nephew passed away at 2 weeks old due to complication of being born too soon. I was only 17 and that was my first experience with death so that has played a big part in how I view life now. I think it is a good thing though.

I am still trying to decide which daycare to put Matthew in. He goes to a nice Christian one right now. I love it there and he loves it there but there is a daycare right across the street from us that is a lot cheaper. It’s smaller than the one he is in now. I would have to bring his breakfast and 3 sippy cups a day to it. There would only be one teacher in his class. I’m worried about taking him out of a place he knows and is use to and putting him somewhere completely new. I think he gets more routine and learning at the place he is at now. I can’t say for sure though. The other place might be the same they were just not as organized. I think that’s and issue too. I work at a place that lacks organization so I really like that his daycare is organized and I don’t have to worry about it. The other issue is that where he is at now will let us pull Matthew out on the weeks Rudy is not working so that saves us money. I don’t know. I am still praying about it. But I guess like they say no decision is a decision. We will see how it all plays out.

Other than that the weather is getting nice so now its time for yard work!! I’m going to try and do a garden again this year. I tried in 09 but I was pregnant and yeah that didn’t work out to well. So fingers crossed I do better this year!

Time flies....

Wow, its so funny how when you’re a kid and you’re in school, it is taking forever and it just feels like time is crawling. All you do is count down until the last period bell rings and you wonder why life moves soooo sllllooowww. And then you grow up, get married, have a baby or two, or three, or four and as soon as you blink your eyes another year has passed! What changed? Did life become more enjoyable? Did it now click about how short life really is and you better make the best of it? I don’t know but I think it works like that for everyone. It seems like I was just counting down the days for graduation wondering if it could be any slower and all of a sudden my 4 year wedding anniversary is coming up and my baby boy is moving into the toddler room at daycare. The only thing I can ask myself is “did I enjoy it?” Because honestly I don’t remember. I hope I did. I wish I could have some of that slow down time that was so abundant in school so I can use it now. Too bad they only way to get that now is to go running on the treadmill or have your teeth pulled ha! Oh well no point in dwelling on the past. All it does is take away from the future. So for now I will just try and make sure I enjoy all the small things that happen every day. Like the way Matthew runs to his high chair yelling “I eat, I eat!” he does that a lot now. Or a good song that comes on the radio. The warm weather that is perfect for taking a walk around the neighborhood, I am really missing that! A good book and so on. I think that is what I am going to try for from now on. Really enjoying life because there is no pause or rewind button. So this week as I take Matthew into daycare to the toddler room for the first time I am going to enjoy it because before long I will be taking him to the big boy school!! Yikes!! And since this is a totally random pointless post I wanted to share a quote from Gandhi that I heard for the first time but I really liked it! “Be the change you want to see in the world”. I LOVE it! I wish more people thought like that.

He thinks he is big
